If you’re listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you’re a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we’re morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal. ~ Alice Cooper

If you’ve recently noticed me in your “friend of” section and don’t know who the hell I am.

I read everything. I read journal entries, quizzes, polls and userinfo. I even read the back of the Lysol can under the bathroom sink. When in San Francisco, I sit at Powell Street station and watch people --it’s a perverse fascination. I get that from my mother. She paints; I write. And daydream. And wonder if I’ll ever get a job.

If I read your entries and find them fascinating, I’ll wonder what makes you tick. I’ll likely go to your friends list, and if they’re interesting, witty, or entertaining, add them as well.

Don’t take it personally.

Some favorite resources for fantasy writing:

Generator Land Many useful generators.

Why God, Why? I'm guessing this is the replacement for Godawful Fan Fiction.

Little Details When you need factual little details for your writing.

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America

Wikipedia - Check your facts, man

A Way With Worlds - Steve Savage

The Snowflake Method for Writing a Novel - Randy Ingermanson

Irony Games’ World Building Tools Offline as of 1/25/13 :(
This wonderful website creates maps, villages, taverns, cities, caverns, dungeons, mazes, isles, terrains and clearings. As if that weren’t enough, it also creates adventures, moon phases, calendars and more! (Sorry to gush.)

Thesaurus.com - Please don’t rape it

Dictionary.com - Now there’s no excuse

Seventh Sanctum - An entire worldbuilding adventure of name/stuff generators

Serendipity - Even more generators

Not sure why I never put this here. It's my own Fictional/Fantasy Plant Name Generator. I might improve on this one of these days. (Ugh. I'm seeing it's screwy. I'll need to figure that out for it to work fully.)

Squid.org - Third and last name/stuff generator I found to be completely awesome

Medieval Demographics Made Easy - A good read

Kingdom Generator - Tells you how many of what occupations you need for your population size. Sweet!
Based on Medieval Demographics Made Easy

The Domesday Book Kingdom Generator - Based on Medieval Demographics Made Easy

The Red Dragon Inn Armory - This is so cool I can't get over myself. The Mainland Menu Generator is especially fun, so is the gem generator.
http://www.rdinn.com/armoury.html - Back online!

Generate a Town’s Population - Awesome. Your town will need some tweaking, but how cool is that?

Random Town Generator (Jamis Buck) - This generates many of the town/city’s residents as well. - offline as of 1/25/13

Random Town Generator (DMG) - A simple generator that generates all the services and names of them. - offline as of 1/25/13

Weapon Name Generator - Because every weapon needs a name - doesn't appear to be working properly as of 1/25/13

Fantasy Name Generator - half the time I can’t get this to work, but when it does it’s cool

Character Name Generator - pretty cool. Takes a little effort, but gives you a lot to think about when creating characters

Chris Pound’s Language Machines - offline as of 1/25/13

IGS Games: NPC Generator - might not be online as of 1/25/13

IGS Games: Name Generator
Wiggly Davinia Lealana Yanyron of the Ghost Icon Tribe and her Attack Snake Mouse Gobbler (Okay, so you can overdo it.)

You may have one of two reactions to this:

1. “Cool! I want to do that!”
2. “What a geek. Get a life!”

Either way, those are my recommendations, and they’re subject to change at any time.
